How long does it take for lock jaw to set in after stepping on a rusty nail?

doesn't really have anything to do with a rusty nail, lockjaw is caused by clostridium tetani, a germ related to botulism. You can get it through all sorts of wounds, especially if they are contaminated by soil. and not cleaned and disinfected.

It starts out as a fever, which can be treated with antibiotics or other antibacterial agents. This would keep it from progressing to the lockjaw stage. If you just don't treat it and let it go, you might get over it without it becoming lockjaw, or it could take a couple weeks to get to that stage.

I'm assuming you're asking this as a hypothetical question. How long does it take for lock jaw to set in after stepping on a rusty nail?

Get a Tenanus shot and you'll be fine. Be sure to take care of the wound tho.
